Ignite-ux cannot create archive greater then 2giga

We have an Ignite server on 11.11 with Ignite-ux version v7.798

In the past we could cover all our vg00's within 2giga. However we have a new Itanium node with 11.23 and the vg00 (/ /stand /usr /home /var /opt) are over 2giga
(AND WE LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY) the Ignite archive backup starts well, but fails at the end with error that archive is over 2giga. (Which it is, and which we like to keep).

So we have tried to punch Ignite-ux into shape
to go over the 2giga limit, without success.
We have checked the filesystem on the Ignite server with fsadm and largefiles are possible,
and tested outside Ingite-ux no problem.

We have patched the tar and zip utilities.
Still no joy.
Is this a known thing ?
Anyone has experience with this kipper ?
What to do / or not to do ?
Cos we don't wanna give up
Thanks

Frank,

When you are creating ignite,

select cpio format instead of tar format

make_net_recovery -A -s servername -v -x inc_entire=vg00 -m cpio

make_tape_recovery -A -v -m cpio -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Hi you can also give a try using pax using the -m pax option with the make_net_recovery or make_tape_recovery command.

get your system if required for the latest pax patches.

Re: Ignite-ux cannot create archive greater then 2giga

We had already tried cpio,
a new version of a Ignite-ux server did the trick
