Increasing Max PV

Is there still a restiction on HP-UX 11.0 to increase the maximum number of physical volumes? Do you still have to backup data and re-create the volume group?

Re: Increasing Max PV

Hi Jim:

Once 'vgcreate'd, the geometry of a volume group specified by 'pe_size', 'max_pv', 'max_pe' and 'max_lv' cannot be changed without backing up any data and destroying and recreating the volume group.

Regards!

Re: Increasing Max PV

you can't do it without destroying it. Take backup and create new vg with required specifications and copy data.

if u r going to create VG-->

The default value for max_pv is 16. The
maximum number of physical volumes can be a
value in the range 1 to 255.

SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/vgcreate [-f] [-A autobackup] [-x extensibility] [-e max_pe]
