LV & VG syncronisation

Hi,

LVM mirroring is configured for all the Logical volumes in a VG.

Is the sunchronisation between main & mirror copy will happen automatically or a manual process is required to make sure LV & VG mirror copies are in sync.

Thanks

Re: LV & VG syncronisation

They will always be in sync unless you break the mirror or it breaks itself. If they do get out of sync if, perhaps, you lose a disk, then you would run "vgsync"

Actually, mirrors are synchronized when the volume group is activated.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"

John,

I have nothing more to add other than: it's automatic!

Re: LV & VG syncronisation

Are you in doubt .. you can do lvdisplay -v lvol?? and look for PE-->LE mapping all the PE's state should be CURRENT and not STALE

Re: LV & VG syncronisation

Hi

On normal work you don't have to care, but after a problem you have to be careful to the vg activation options. -s gives you an immediate access to the volume, which is somtimes required, but *disables* the automatic resync.

Regards.
It works for me (┬й Bill McNAMARA ...)
