LVM identifier Mismatch

Hi, I ran a demsg on a L2000 and got this error SCSI: Read error -- dev: b 31 0x054000, errno: 126, resid: 2048,
blkno: 8, sectno: 16, offset: 8192, bcount: 2048.
LVM: Failed to restore PV 0 to VG 1! Identifier mismatch.

I checked disks with LVM and run XSTM and can see no problems. Can anyone help?

Re: LVM identifier Mismatch

Robert,

check the syslog file, you should get an indication when it failed and when it recovered or when s.o. used vgcfgrestore.

Maybe disk c5t4d0 has been replaced sometime after last boot (who -b)?

Re: LVM identifier Mismatch

You can also request an HP Techincian to arrive on site in order to check via XSTM if the defective growing list has new entries or not.

If not, then maybe indeed you've replaced a disk without booting, but please bare in mind that in L2000 you should be able to replace the hard disks since they are Hot swappable, and the only messages that you should see in dmesg are "...disk was added" or something like that.

You should consider backing up your data and schedule to replace the disk ASAP!!!!

Cheers,
Tal.
