No access to vg drive bay

Hello,

Perhaps someone can help me.
On a HP-UX B11.11, after a reboot, the 4 non-system disk group do not mount at all.
I do not know what it happened but I think the address of these disks is no longer good

Re: No access to vg drive bay

you had any hardware changes before reboot?
mv /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.orig
vgscan -av
this will recreate your lvmtab after checking all the available physical volumes.
Please post the result?

Re: No access to vg drive bay

hello,

yes before reboot, i had a failed disk on vg00 (c1t2d0). I replace (hot-swap) it but it didn't resync.
I think i need to reboot and boom !
now i turn around the solution because vgscan remove the vg00 :

vgscan: The physical volume "/dev/dsk/c2t2d0" is already recorded in the "/etc/l
vmtab" file.

vgscan: has no correspoding valid raw device file under /dev/rdsk.
Verification of unique LVM disk id on each disk in the volume group
/dev/vg00 failed.

/dev/vg02
/dev/dsk/c6t2d0
/dev/dsk/c7t2d0

/dev/vg03
/dev/dsk/c6t4d0
/dev/dsk/c7t4d0

/dev/vg04
/dev/dsk/c6t6d0
/dev/dsk/c7t6d0

vgscan: has no correspoding valid raw device file under /dev/rdsk.
Verification of unique LVM disk id on each disk in the volume group
/dev/vg01 failed.

Scan of Physical Volumes Complete.

And the result lvmtab :
strings lvmtab
/dev/vg02
/dev/dsk/c6t2d0
/dev/dsk/c7t2d0
/dev/vg03
/dev/dsk/c6t4d0
/dev/dsk/c7t4d0
/dev/vg04
/dev/dsk/c6t6d0
/dev/dsk/c7t6d0

since, i manualy vgreduce vg00, but vgscan give the same result.

thanks

Re: No access to vg drive bay

anytime you can restore you lvmtab as it was working before.
But check the following.
your ioscan showing only 8 disks.
But orig lvmtab showing 10 disks. So veryfy all the disks are available.
Your vg00 was mirrored right?or it was a hardware mirror?
If it was vg00 mirroring Have you follow the online disk replacement procedure?
Should run vgcfgrestore
and then vgsync.Then

Re: No access to vg drive bay

Yes there are missing disks : one system disk that i had unplug and another for which I have no explanation.
All the disk on this machine are logical mirroring.
In a rush, unfortunately I do not follow procedure.
After visual verify and replug all the disk :
>ioscan -fnC disk

disk 1 0/0/1/1.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 18.2GATLAS10K3_18_SC

/dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0

/dev/dsk/c7t6d0 /dev/rdsk/c7t6d0

2 questions :
- why the vgscan removes the vg00 and vg01 ?
- why my references discs have changed ? old c5t0d0 becomes c7t0d0 ?
