Not able to create Logical volume

1. While creating logical volume on the top of volume group in server getting error as below:

lvol does not exist in the "/etc/lvmtab" file.

lvol does not exist in the "/etc/lvmtab_p" file.

The following command is used to create logical volume:

lvcreate -L 20000 lvol_logs /dev/vx/dsk/logdg/

2. And also tried to create LV manually using smh command but its not letting to select the volume group name. There VG name option is disabled to select any options.

Volume groups like dbdg, logdg and rootdg is already present but its not letting to create more logical volumes on the top of it.

could you please let me know if we are making any error or if there is any other way to create LV.

Thanks

Re: Not able to create Logical volume

/dev/vx/dsk/logdg/

I'm sure this is not LVM!

Probably VxVM.

Hope this helps!

Re: Not able to create Logical volume

It appears you are definitely using VxVM (Veritas Volume Manager) rather than the basic LVM.

The main indicator is the /dev/vx/dsk/logdg.  That is definitely VxVM terminology.

Check out this thread with a video on how to work with VxVM.
