Hello:
To improve IO performance we are thinking about moving oracle 9i and 10g from file systems to raw devices
. We are a bit scared about the complexity of managing raw devices and I have read
that ODM offers a similar performance than raw devices. Is ODM purchased from veritas-hp or it comes in default vxfs bundles?
HPUX 11.11
regards.

Hello Mario,
you will get ODM with the following product from HP: EOE Storage Management for Oracle
Premium product (T2792BA).
With this bundle, you base your storage stack on the following Veritas products:
DMP
VxVM (Full)
FxFS (OnlineJFS)
ODM
Note that ODM works only with VxVM based volumes.
Wether this bundle is available for 11.11 I don't know since it is based on Veritas
Storage Foundation V4.1.
Best Regards,
Arnold
