I am going for adding secondary swap into one of my server,
this is the output of swapinfo:
#swapinfo -tam
Mb Mb Mb PCT START/ Mb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 4096 1010 3086 25% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
reserve - 3086 -3086
memory 12650 11998 652 95%
total 16746 16094 652 96% - 0 -
I could see the priority of primary device swap as 1 which is mirrored:
Here my query is:
1) What can i give the priority of the secondary device swap which is not mirrored and it is not from root vg.
It's from additional SAN.
Please let me know at the earliest.
Thanks in Advance,
Regards,
Vijay..

Re: Priority of secondary swap without mirroring..
putting the secondary swap in SAN disks does expose your swap to FC cable break-down dangers, better if you can keep that local as well as mirrored.
You can give the same priority as 1 or higher.
0- highest priority
9 - lowest.
actually identical type of device swaps that is swap on identical sort of Disks should have the same priority.

Re: Priority of secondary swap without mirroring..
it's on your decision if you use the same priority or no, if you have a system disk that containt the primary swap there is a priority with 1, and if you secondary swap on separated disk, and the disk is not so much loaded with aditional disk i/o request you could give the secondary swap a higher priority 0.

PS : i have 2x2 disk mirrored and 2 swaps and both of them have the same priority.
