Problem when mirror vg00

Somebady forgot use -B on pvcreate command when doing mirror on vg00.

So, lvlnboot shows the alter disk is nonboot disk.
/dev/dsk/c1t6d0 (0/0/2/0.6.0) -- Boot Disk
/dev/dsk/c2t6d0 (0/0/2/1.6.0)

How can I resolve this problem? I don't like to remirror the vg00.

Re: Problem when mirror vg00

Jason,

I believe you will have to unmirror, vgreduce and start over.

Re: Problem when mirror vg00

Using the -B option when doing a pvcreate reserves the boot area on the PV.
If this was not done, there is no way to fix this without redoing a pvcreate -B.
This means:
unmirror the disk
vgreduce
pvcreate -B (and possibly use the -f option)
vgextend
create the mirrors again

Re: Problem when mirror vg00

Hi Jason,

I think all people already answered with the best direction to solve your problem. Infact no possibilites to get your disk bootable if before it was not initialized by pvcreate -B.
You has to recreate the LVM structure.

Please assign points if people helps you because your 15/54 about points assigned is not so good.

Re: Problem when mirror vg00

Hi Jason,

you have to remirror the disk, because "-B" reserves additional space on disk.
Please unmirror and recreate using pvcreate -f -B ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hey;

Just to add my $.02; you have no choice but to reduce the mirrored disk out and redo it.

Re: Problem when mirror vg00

Hi,

As suggested by many others earlier the only option left is to recreate mirror.

Cross check the action with attached procedure before activity so that it is not required to repeat it again.
