Problems activating a Volume Group

Why am I getting this error message?
This node is a part of the Service Guard cluster, including the VG.

#:vgchange -a y /dev/vg09
vgchange: Activation mode requested for the volume group "/dev/vg09" conflicts with configured mode.

Re: Problems activating a Volume Group

Hi etc,

in SG environment a VG has to be activated by

vgchange -a e /dev/vg09

Note the 'e' (i.e. exclusive) on the command. But do you need to activate it manually? It should be done by cm* commands (for example cmrunpkg.

Anyway use the above command.

Best regards,
Fabio

Re: Problems activating a Volume Group

Hi,
you have you take it "outside" the cluster.

Re: Problems activating a Volume Group

Shalom,

The volume group has been activated in exclusive mode to prevent data corruptoin.

You need to get the node out of the cluster and change the mode on the VG.

You should be able to go through a vgchange -a y/n sequence or vgchange -c y/n to get the VG working properly again.
