Reducing physical volumes out of a volume group
I added about 1TB of LUNs to a volume group but cannot expand a logical volume, apparently due to a strict allocation policy.
Even though I have 1TB free. lvextend just says "no free extents available".
I am thinking about removing the PVs from the VG and creating another VG with the right parameters for allocation.
I believe I have VG v1 and this is on rx8640 running 11.31

Re: Reducing physical volumes out of a volume group
P.S.
Will vgreduce cause any data loss?
I did pvdisplay on each disk and did not see any extents allocated.

Re: Reducing physical volumes out of a volume group
If the disks are not in use, then no, there should not be any data loss. Just make sure you specify the disk(s) you want to reduce out of the VG on the vgreduce command line.

Re: Reducing physical volumes out of a volume group
vgdisplay -v
would be helpful.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
