Remove Striping

I have a LV in a VG with striping across 4 PVs. I want to remove the striping. I would re-use the same VG/LV/FS and Mount Point.

What would be the best procedure?

Thanks...

Re: Remove Striping

Backup your data.
Unmount the FS.
Blow away the LV.
Recreate the LV so it is not striped.
Newfs to create the filesystem.
Mount the LV.
Restore your data.

Re: Remove Striping

If the service needs to be available during the migration:
- If the volume is striped and (!) mirrored you can lvreduce the mirror and mirror it without stripes.

- In case you have 1 spare disk as large as one of the others, you can use migratepv to migrate the disks one after the other.

My 2 cents,
Armin
And now for something completely different...
