Suse / RedHat LVM compatible with HP-UX ?



In future we need to migrate to a RedHat / Suse box. I am wondering: can we export LVM disks on HP-UX servers with LVM and simply import them on a Redhat/Suse box ?

No.

LVM for Linux was a feature port. The volume groups and logical volumes are not portable.

it's not because the commands are similar that the data is too.

LVM used on HPUX is not open, the implementation on linux was build seperate. there is however an attempt to read the hpux fs on linux but i wouldn't use it for anything other but a curiosity.
