I attempted to create a new vg in sam. On completion, error says (paraphrase) "vg07 not created - conflicting minor group number". So vg07 does not show up anywhere. It duplicated the minor group number of vg01. Now vg01 says there is a problem because it does not have a unique minor group number. But we do not know how to remove the number that was created with our vg07 creation attempt.

SolutionThere is probably just a /dev/vg07/group file created. Probably worth posting the output of
ls -l /dev/*/group
So we can see how your group numbers are defined...
