VG00 missing from lvmtab 11.23
Hi all, I have seen some similar posts about my issue but none that solved the problem. I am running version 11.23 and I have a failed boot path that I can't figure out the cause of. The system will boot without problems going to the alternate boot path but throws this error during boot when trying first path:
Loading.: HP-UX Primary Boot: 0/1/1/1.2.0
Load of HP-UX Primary Boot: 0/1/1/1.2.0 failed: Not Found
In the process of looking for an answer I noticed that vg00 is not being displayed in the lvmtab. I can still cd into /dev/vg00 and it has all of its files. The system also reports that VG00 is active when I try to import it again. I have recreated the lvm tab to no avail. When I run an ioscan it shows all of the disks claimed so IM not thinking bad disk. When I run a /sbin/vgscan it reports the following about VG00:vgscan: Couldn't access the list of physical volumes for volume group "/dev/vg00"
Please offer any ideas you can :-)

What model of server?
Also, post the following:
# vgdisplay -v vg00
# strings /etc/lvmtab
# vgcfgrestore -l -n vg00

Re: VG00 missing from lvmtab 11.23
Any recent changes?
Maybe someone did a wrong step during mirroring or disk replacement?
Please post
# setboot
# lvlnboot -v
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: VG00 missing from lvmtab 11.23
The LVM config files appear to be correct:
vgcfgrestore -l -n vg00
Volume Group Configuration information in "/etc/lvmconf/vg00.conf"
VG Name /dev/vg00
---- Physical volumes : 2 ----
/dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s2 (Bootable)
/dev/rdsk/c3t2d0s2 (Bootable)
Perhaps try to manually restore these to the disks and see if LVM then sees things as it should:
# vgcfgrestore -n vg00 /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s2
# vgcfgrestore -n vg00 /dev/rdsk/c3t2d0s2
You may get an error regarding a mismatch between backup file and running kernel though.

No recent changes, these boxes are new though and we had some issues with the mirror when we first installed this box. So there may have been a mistake made in that process i just find it hard to believe it took this long to find out.

Hey Robert, Thanks for the post. Is the above safe to do while online in a production environment?
