Whether do the following steps work well when spliting a rp7420 with nPar.
1. Install OS,patches,software on rp7420.
2. Extend HDD-2 into vg00.
3. Mirror HDD-1 and HDD-2 in vg00.

Shalom,

Your procedure may work.

There is a toolset designed to replicate systems and supported by HP. It is called Ignite.

Re: VG00 split on rp7420 nPar

I attempted that process once a few years ago. There where all sorts of pointers left over that linked the drive to a different host, and caused all sorts of chaos. I finally ended up using ignite, it left things in a much cleaner state, and was far easier in the end.

Summary,

Your plan will probably not work. Ignite will. As the saying goes, the right tool for the job.

In this case that tool is Ignite.

Good Luck,

Re: VG00 split on rp7420 nPar

^_^

I have tested. It works well.

The steps is blow.
1. Do mirror on one partition.
2. Split partition to two partition(nPar or vPar).
Notes: Don't split mirror.
3. Recover vg00. Kick the missed disk out of vg00.
4. reboot.

Everything is ok now.
