Vg with alternative pv link faild

I have Hp 11i Over vg01 with alternative path.
/dev/dsk/c5t0d0 and /dev/dsk/c6t0d0
vgdisplay show :

PV Name /dev/dsk/c5t0d0
PV Status available
Total PE 4340
Free PE 0
Autoswitch On

PV Name /dev/dsk/c6t0d0
PV Status available
Total PE 4340
Free PE 512
Autoswitch On

Because in one link Free PE is cero, how to resolve this.

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

This does NOT look like a pvlink situation. These disks look like 2 separate disks, which is what the VG thinks since one has 512 Free PEs and the other has 0 Free PEs.

Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that c5t0d0 and c6t0d0 are differnet paths to the same disk?

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

What makes you so sure that c6t0d0 is an alternate path to c5t0d0? LVM thinks that they are different disks.

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

Hi:

I agree with Patrick. A verbose 'vgdisplay' for the volume group in question would show something like:

PV Name /dev/dsk/c2t0d2
PV Name /dev/dsk/c5t1d2 Alternate Link
PV Status available
Total PE 1000
Free PE 45

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

You could find out if the second disk is pvlink from:

# vgdisplay -v /dev/vg01

As suggested, it might be true that these are not actually the pvlinks, but two seperate disks on two controllers with the same SCSI IDs.

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

HI, this disk is on one storage external, which has altenartive conections, and only one LU'

Re: Vg with alternative pv link faild

Rene,

though I don't doubt your statement that this is one LU, if you do

#pvdisplay /dev/dsk/c6t0d0
if /dev/dsk/c5t0d0 is the SAME disk it should should as Alternate Link just like in the VG display it should. If it is not the case, then I don't think that the system recognizes this disk to be the same and that could cause bigger issues.
