Volume group removal

Hi

We have 3 VG's that have device files associated to them:

root@xxxxxx at / =>ll /dev | grep vgL
drwxr-xr-x   2 root       sys             96 Jul 19 02:33 vgL01
drwxr-xr-x   2 root       sys             96 Jul 19 02:45 vgL11
drwxr-xr-x   2 root       sys             96 Jul 19 02:48 vgL13

They cannot be vgdisplayed or wgexported, nor are they in the lvmtab.

They don't seem to exist.

Is it as simple as just deleting these files or are there any other commands I can try

Regards

Tariq

Re: Volume group removal

If they're  not in /etc/lvmtab, or if running 11.31 and using VG 2.x volume groups the lvmtab_p file, then chances are you can just remove the directories from /dev without any problems.

Re: Volume group removal

Without any entries in lvmtab, these are just simple directories and files. They can be removed.

Why they are there can only be guessed but they can certainly be recreated. The only purpose of the directory is to hold the group and lvol special files.
