VxVM and XP Arrays - VxVM "dm" objects naming standards

Those who've implemented XP Storage and VxVM - have you implemented any standards with respect to "dm" (disk media?) names? And does it take into consideration its ACP, DKU (array frame) and array group (or HDU) location?

Not sure about "dm" nomenclature. This information is generally viewed using CommnadView XP or by maintaining Spreadsheet to depict XP LUN allocation at XP level.

By "dm" objects I mean how the disks/luns are named. "dm" for disk media is functionally equivalent to LVM's PV - only that it can be named differently from its cXtYdZ device name. The reason for naming the disks is to quickly identify from which location on the XP's innards the LUN was carved from -- it will also be quite possible to write a script that will "intelligently" build VxVM Volumes (LVOLS in LVM Lingo) that distribute components (in the case of stripes) amongst array groups or accross ACP's.

Additionally - naming the disks will allow for quick inventory/tracking of capacity usage ON the servers connected. But still the most important aspect of a naming standard will be for proper layout and allocation of LUNs on the vm level.

One such standard that I am thinking is:

R2-F-0A is say c123t15d8

Which means the LUN is from DKU R2, array group 16 and the 10th LDEV(LUN) out of that array group.
