VxVM extending /var

Hi All

vxprint shows me:
v var fsgen ENABLED 4194828 - ACTIVE - -
pl var-01 var ENABLED 4194828 - ACTIVE - -
sd root2-05 var-01 ENABLED 4194828 0 - - -
pl var-02 var ENABLED 4194828 - ACTIVE - -
sd rootmir-05 var-02 ENABLED 4194828 0 - - -

vxassist -g rootdg maxgrow var
Volume var can be extended by 20787200 to: 24982028 (12198Mb+524 sectors)

SO - can I just use vxassist and grow /var?

OR

Someone just put a seed of doubt in my mind. Do I need to split the mirror and worry about growing the plexes and re-mirroring?

Re: VxVM extending /var

I think you just use vxresize. That should be your command. It will take care of both volume and the filesystem.

Thanks Kaps

That's what I thought, but one of the guys has said I need to consider if the sub disks or plex's are full or something? He had to rush off so couldn't explain.

Re: VxVM extending /var

Hi,
here is the example,
#vxresize -g rootdg homevol 300m
It will automatically extends the mirror vol also.

Re: VxVM extending /var

This has all been academic - I checked further and the request is for a /var UFS partition on a slowaris encapsulated root disk. I have suggested they scrap the box and buy HP next time :-O

I guess I will have to get on to the console, remove the encapsulation, etc etc...
