Vxresize

Hello Forum,

There are confusing statements in this forum about resizing filesystems in a VXVM environment. Some people say you don't need OnlineJFS while using VXVM and some people say otherwise.

Here is what I understand , Correct me if I am wrong.

1). No matter what the Volume Manager is [ limited to LVM or VXVM ], To resize a mounted / active filesystem without unmounting it we need Online JFS or the equivalent product from Symantec [ they use a diff name but it is the same JFS - Full]

2). vxresize does both fileystem and the volume at a time right ? I mean there is no need of an fsadm command here.

Re: Vxresize

Kaps,

1) Thats correct.

2) Thats correct as well.

Where did you see statements about not needing OnlineJFS or the full version of VxFS (storage foundation)?

Re: Vxresize

Yes and Yes.

Of course, the matrix in the man page would have explained all of this to you --- and I would trust it more than I would trust me --- but that's just me.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
