can use vgexport -s option for IA64 boxes?

hello,

I would like to ask whether I can use vgexport -v -s -p -m mapfile vg## and use vgimport -v -s -m mapfile vg## on both IA64 boxes. From the manual, it is said the "-s" option is for 800 series only.

Yes you can use -s. The man is misleading. refer to:

I'm sure this has a historical reason - series 800 (servers) vs. series 700 (workstations). Don't worry, this should work ;-)

...and in fact, if you look at the 11.31 manpages the reference to "Series 800" is gone.
