Re: /dev/vg00/lvol3 (root file sytem) showing bad block

Can you boot into single user mode?? Doesn't system do fsck and boot?? you can go into single user mode, do fsck with alternate superblock(ususally 16) and try.

Re: /dev/vg00/lvol3 (root file sytem) showing bad block

Hello!

Try to boot in Recovery Shell and correct the problem using HP-UX Core Recovery Menu or fsck(1m). To get in to Recovery Shell you should boot from HP-UX Install Media and choose it from installation menu.
"Intel inside" is not a label, it's a warning.

Re: /dev/vg00/lvol3 (root file sytem) showing bad block

For HFS filesystem it is possible to use copy of superblock with fsck (see fsck -b ). List of superblocks for HFS filesystems is contained in /etc/sbtab file.

fsck_hfs -F hfs -b 16 /dev/vg00/rlvol1

Re: /dev/vg00/lvol3 (root file sytem) showing bad block

How can you know that the filesystem had bad blocks?
I need exactly error messages!
In normally, if you can boot into single-user mode, of course you can reboot the server. The filesystem will be checked at booting time.
Can solve it?
Do you have Online-JFS?
Looking for a special chance.......

Re: /dev/vg00/lvol3 (root file sytem) showing bad block

Once more:
I recommend you should make a recovery tape (by using make_tape_recovery command) as soon as possible. It is more safe for your system :)
