file saving operation takes time to local HFS filesystem

Hello Everybody on this forum.
I am having HP-UX box. The details are:
kerws113:/ # uname -a
HP-UX kerws113 B.11.00 A 9000/785 2008670460 two-user license

on this machine when the user try to save file to local filesystem it take 5 to 10 minutes. This is happening on this system only. On other system with sam HW/SW configuration this is not happening. When i check thouroughly i found that the filesystem on which user is saving data is HFS. where as on other system it is vxfs.

kerws113:/ # cat /etc/fstab
# System /etc/fstab file. Static information about the file systems
# See fstab(4) and sam(1M) for further details on configuring devices.

/dev/vg01/lvol1 /export/ford/kerws113/u hfs rw,suid 0 2

The size of files in this filesystem is:

1368064 Sep 1 2006 29082006.mf1
90112 Sep 1 2006 29082006.mf2

Re: file saving operation takes time to local HFS filesystem

If your HFS filesystem is near full, you'll take a long time to allocate large files.

post

sar -d 5 10

before and during the file save.

user saves file in lvol1 of vg01. so look for "/dev/dsk/c3t5d0" in sar output
