hpux 11.11 /etc/vx world writeable

Hi All,

After installing june 08 patch bundle we noticed that /etc/vx has 666 as permission.

we changed it and rebooted but still world writeable.

Any ideas? or known issues?

Thanks in advance

Re: hpux 11.11 /etc/vx world writeable

Never mind.. It is in the subject of this thread.

grep chmod /sbin/init.d/*

any new entries in /etc/inittab with relation to vx* ?

Otherwise it could be just about anything. swconfig that runs during reboot, a new vx script/binary that is changing things..

If you are worried, create a new boot script that changes it back and execute in run-level three until a new patch is issued someday that stops this behavior ? (assuming someone made an error in the new patch deploy to do this).

Hi:

It might be informative to grep for a few key things in your startup scripts:

# grep -e /etc/vx -e chmod /sbin/init.d/*

Regards!
