idisk error

Hi all, I wish to create a mirror copy of system disk but, when I try to partitioning the disk, I get this error : (HP-UX 11.23)

# idisk -f /tmp/partition.dat -w -v /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
idisk: Unable to get describe data

Here the output of partition.dat file

# cat /tmp/partition.dat

EFI 500MB
HPUX 100%

Thank you in advance,

Lorenzo

Re: idisk error

I always do

# idisk -wf /tmp/partition.dat /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0

make sure you use the correct device file and abswer "yes" - not only "y".

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: idisk error

Hi all,

thank you very much for your support. The customer didn't realize that the device he was trying to use with idisk was a cdrom, so he was trying to partition a cdrom, I think is the first trying this :D ,so this was the problem. But I have to correct YAQUB post because, not always, on HP-UX systems the default special file for cdrom is c0t0d0 (even if is very common).

Thanks again,

Lorenzo
