lvextend..

Dear all...
I habe one lv of 1gb..
I extended it to 4gb by following command.
# lvextend -L 4000 /dev/vgmsa05/POC_Backup
###lc successfully extended message comes..
but still i am not able to see free space in this lv..
in bdf o/p its still showing original space i.e. 1gb...
i run
# sync /dev/vgmsa05/POC_Backup
still problem not solved

After the LVextend u need to extend the File system using the command

# /usr/sbin/extendfs [-F FStype] [-q] [-v] [-s size] special

for more info check the man page of extendfs

If you have online JFS installed, this can be done online.

1. lvextend -L 4000 /dev/vgmsa05/POC_Backup
2. fsadm -b 4000M /
3. bdf

Otherwise use extendfs as suggested.

Hi Yogi

1. After extending lvol, you need to extendfs using raw volume

#lvextend -L 4000 /dev/vgmsa05/rPOC_Backup

2. Suggest to go for Online JFS which is a easy tool for Logical Volume management Online
