Re: problem for make a mirror of an lvol

Looks like you dont have Mirror-ux/dx installed in your system.

You need to have MirrorUX/DX installed to be able to mirror the logical volumes

# swlist | grep -i mirror

Learn What to do ,How to do and more importantly When to do ?

Re: problem for make a mirror of an lvol

You don't have the MirrorDisk/UX software installed. If it was the -m option would be valid. Another way to check if it installed, is to run 'swlist -l product | grep -i mirror

This software is not free, it must be purchased. Definitely a worthwhile investment for a production server.

Re: problem for make a mirror of an lvol

Yep, that is the problem exactly.

Mirror Disk can be obtained 2 ways: 1) Buy it as a separate product. 2) Buy the more expensive Enterprise OE or Mission Critical OE version of HP-UX 11i when you buy a new server.

Mirror Disk is NOT a standard part of the Base HP-UX 11i operating system.

Re: problem for make a mirror of an lvol

Because nothing shows up, that means it is not installed.
However if it were installed, it would install a different binary program for lvextend that includes the -m option.

Re: problem for make a mirror of an lvol

Check out Chapter 16 (LVM) of the Software Recovery Handbook:

Chapter 16 - http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/iv/node.do?node=prodITRC%2FWW_Start%2FN1%7C16%7C11

Main Software Recovery Handbook site - http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/iv/node.do?node=prodITRC%2FWW_Start%2FN1%7C16

The LVM chapter details how to replace disk drives and goes into detail for almost all situations you may encounter.
