pvmove online?

hi All,

i have a LV which distribute between 4 PVs

/dev/vg01/lvol1
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d1
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d2
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d3
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d4

all 4 PVs contain data.

may i know can i run pvmove online to merge data, so that as a result i get the following:

/dev/vg01/lvol1
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d1
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d2
- /dev/dsk/c8t0d3

Hi,

as long as you have enough free extends on the other disk you can move them. It can take a long time to move the data from one disk to the others, do not interrupt the pvmove.
# pvmove -n /dev/vg01/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c8t0d4 /dev/dsk/c8t0d1 /dev/dsk/c8t0d2 /dev/dsk/c8t0d3

Yes

any impact for the service?
Yes, the c8 controller and the disks will be busy. You could run it after bussiness hours if you would like to exclude impact on the users.
