to inialize an alternate path disk

hi , i would like to initialize an alternate disk on my server. How can i create an alternate disk ?

Hi,
Do you mean an alternate boot disk or a data disk. If a boot disk, just do a ordinary install (or recovery from an ignite tape) and select the alternate disk in the install or recover process.

Hi,

If I read the title correctly, you have an alternate path or link to the same disk device & you wish to enable it.

Let's say the VG is
/dev/vg01
Let's say the primary path is
/dev/dsk/c5t2d0
and the alternate path is
/dev/dsk/c7t2d0

Just vgextend the VG with the new path
vgextend /dev/vg01 /dev/dsk/c7t2d0
That's it. Now a vgdisplay -v vg01 should show both paths & the last added as the Alternate Link
