vgsync status display

I've been doing some testing on one of our A-class (a-500) machines, with pretty good results. I set up a mirrored root disk in the standard way, then simulated a disk failure by yanking either one drive or the other.

Usually, there's about a 10 second interval after a disk is yanked during which the system seems "frozen", e.g., no terminal access, but processes seem to be running o.k. (I'm not thrown off ssh, X, etc.).

Last time around, the interval was replaced by a panic, and the machine brought me to the HP-UX equivalent of OpenPROM (I'm a solaris guy...).

A vgsync seemed to kick off automatically after I reset the machine, and it continued for quite some time.

My question: how to I check the status of the mirror sync? I've cruised the man pages for most of the vg* and pv* commands, and no luck so far.

Thanks for any help.

Re: vgsync status display

Hi Robert:

Do this to see what's synced and still-to-be:

# lvdislay -v /dev/vgXX/lvolX

...JRF...
