vxupgrade version 5 to 7 impact in combination with XP24000 BC

Hi , we need  to update  a production Metro-cluster 11.23  towards  11.31 , with XP Business  Copy ( BC) .

during this  steps  we also want to upgrade  VxFS filesystems  from Version 5  in two steps  to Version 7  .

Unfortunately I can not test this  part , but I expect no problems  with this.

My question is  : does  BC have any impact in this ?

What I want to be sure  is that when updating first system (package in our case Database-server -File systems ) from V5 into Version 7 and we do a relocate,  I assume that BC keep all data identically so the  other side is  automatically also V7 ?

does anyone  got any experience with this  ?

second , I assume  upgrading file system  to V7 after both nodes are  updated  from 11.23  to 11.31 .

Thanks  for any help idea's  about this  .

Kind  regards .

Hi ,

We have upgraded production filesystems versions online from 5 to 7 , without any issues.

As far as BC copy is concerned , i dont think there is any problem , since it takes characteristcs from Source volume only .

But request you to wait for some more replies , from Giants before going ahead.

BC (business copy) is a disk-to-disk copy. The XP array knows nothing about filesystems or directories -- it is just replicating the data sector by sector.
