hpux11iv1.VXVM 3.5
vxvmconvert analysis succeeds, but conversion fails. with following errors.
Saving LVM configuration records for Volume Group vg01 ...
LVM Volume Group vg01 records saved.
Unmounting vg01 file systems..
The Volume Manager is now reconfiguring (partition phase)...
Volume Manager: Initializing c0t5d0 as a converted LVM disk.
Volume Manager: Reconfiguration will be done without rebooting.
The Volume Manager is now reconfiguring (initialization phase)...
Volume Manager: Adding dg0101 (c0t5d0) as a converted LVM disk.
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: Disk group dg01: cannot create: vxconfigd is currently disabled
Addition of dg01 to dg01 disk group failed.
Adding volumes for c0t5d0...
vxvm:vxmake: ERROR: IPC failure: Configuration daemon is not accessible
The creation of converted volumes for c0t5d0 failed.
vxvm:vxprint: ERROR: IPC failure: Configuration daemon is not accessible
The following disks failed conversion:

noticed that process status "vxconfigd -m enable" changes to "vxconfigd -k -r reset -m disable" and then to "vxconfigd -k" by the time vxvmconvert ends with failure.
please help me understand what is happening?
do VXVM logs anything useful anywhere ? how to resolve this ?

vxconfigd was running and died.
when vxvmconvert was converting...

You need to make sure VXVM is running properly patched before trying this. IT looks like ot may have ran but you cannot activate it with VXVM.
