HP-UX - jdk 1.5.0.10 - d64 "Error Occurred with initialization of VM"

Here is the environment info:
Server : HP UX 11.11
jdk version : HP jdk 1.5.0.10

I'm trying to run a simple HelloWorld java program with the -d64 option enabled.

# java -d64 HelloWorld
It throws the following error:

Error Occurred with initialization of VM.
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.lang.Thread.start ()V
Abort(coredump)

Does this mean the -d64 (trying to utilize the 64 bit) implementaion on HP jvm 1.5.0.10 is broken? Is this a known issue? Are there any patches?

When i remove the -d64 option, it works just fine.
