It looks like you are confusing binutils support and ld support. GNU ld is not supported on any 32 bit HP-UX platform and hppa2.0w is 32 bits despite the slightly misleading name. The rest of binutils, such as the GNU assembler, should configure and build fine.

Steve is right, except for that this exclusion is only for HP-UX on PA-RISC.
Whatever you choose: 32- or 64bit, you will need a binutils and/or gcc for both so choose wisely in your --prefix destination
I chose /usr/local/pa11_32, /usr/local/pa20_32 and /usr/local/pa20_64
