3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
Hi.
I'm trying to add my new mobile phone Nokia E52 to the connection control list but the box is responding back with
"Not a MAC address!". The MAC-address is a8:7e:33:e3:55:58
If i change the the first part so that the result would be 00:7e:33:e3:55:58
it will accept it. Sounds like it does not like a8 in the beginning.
I have tried to upgrade(to 1.3.06) and reboot, but the 3Com box keeps saying after the upgrade: Software version 1.3s.
Any tips for a workaround without changing the connection control and not trying to hack Nokia's MAC address?

Re: 3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
Did managed to upgrade the 3Com box to 1.3.06ww, no change :(.
Checked the javascript, looks like function macsCheck won't allow the first part to be anything higher than 127 decimal(7F hexadecimal). 7-bit lock on the the first part?

Veni
This sounds liek a bug, even if your support is over, contact 3Com to report a bug, they WILL look into this.
Good luck

Re: 3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
Hi
Has anyone got a fix to this bug yet? Whats the point of MAC filtering if it doesn't cover the full range...
Surely, this is just a validation error with the script, rather than a limitation of the physical device?

David

Re: 3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
I debugged and changed the logic of the javascript to save a value starting with F, i could but i can't connect from the device so i guess is not a bug in the javascript...

Hi
I found a thread somewhere where it states its a bug to be fixed in 1.3.14.
Not sure of release date/how this will delivered for customers outside of warranty periods..

Re: 3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
FOUND A WORKAROUND HERE
Hello,
My MAC starts with B2... a recent Toshiba notebook with i3 cpu.
I upgraded to 1.3.14:
http://www.3com.com/swd/jsp/user/result.jsp?selected=6&sort=effdt&order=desc&sku=3CRWER200-75
but it did not improve the situation. I can't even see that the upgrade eventually happened... maybe it failed ;)
I did the following:
- backup router config
- manually edit filter rule
- restore router config from hacked file
After some trials and restarts of router (I wonder why they were needed) it started to work....
Hope this helps ;)

Re: 3CRWER200-75 "Not a MAC address!"
Update: the reason it failed: wrong firmware... I will keep trying...
Wrong firmware to upgrade
The version of code you have attempted to download is not compatible with this device. Please check and try again !
You will be returned to the previous page after X seconds.....
