HP MSM760 Premium Mobility Controller not authenticating more than 250 users.
We have an HP MSM760 Premium Mobility Controller (J9420A) licenced for 40 AP's. We have a reproducable problem whereby only approx 250 users can authenicate at a time. If 30 users are removed from the network we immediately gain 30 more active connections. I thought the MSM760 was licenced for 2000 concurrent connections? We took a firmware upgrade in Sept last year to support the HP 560 Dual Radio 802.11ac (WW) Access Point (J9846A) and have been adding clients since and are now noticing this behavour. We have ruled out DHCP scope issues. We plan to add another 200 devices in September so this is now becoming important for us.

AFAIK the 2000 users limit has two references: first, when MSM Controllers are "teamed" (with up to 5 MSM 760 and up to 800 Wireless APs), so in case of Virtual Controller, the limit remains 2000 concurrent users regardless of the number of MSM Controllers in the Team; second, the same maximum 2000 number of concurrent users in case of a single MSM Controller (if I read the latest Datasheet correctly) is valid, so that limit doesn't change at all and looks like there is no license related to it.
Also it seems that the MSM 760 base controller supports 2000 guest access user sessions without additional AP license upgrade (this, with MSM software version newer than V5.7).
Is your MSM 760 Premium Mobility Controller (J9420A) running the MSM software V6.6.4.0?
I'm not an HPE Employee

Thanks for the reply. The HP Wireless controller MSM760 is running version 6.5.3.0 but will not verify more than 250 accounts.

If you back up your license & open it with notepad, does it mention the 250 limit under a setting
max_authenticated_devices ???
