msm 760 with ap on different subnet

Hi, i have 2 teamed msm760 mobility controller, some ap are on a different subnet, this subnet is routed and all traffic is forwarded beetwin the controller subnet and ap subnet, there is no firewall blocking traffic. I have configured provisioning for the ap, with static ip, gw etc, on discovery property page i tried direct ip discovery and dns discovery, but with no result, the controller cannot discover the ap on the other subnet.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advance

Re: msm 760 with ap on different subnet

I cheated on this part. I don't have routing between my subnets, so I set the Network port IP address up on one subnet, and it's extra 'Management' address up on the other subnet. This allowed the APs to communicate with the controller so I could proceed with testing and configuration. The other settings didn't seem to have any bearing on what happened unless I matched the subnets between the two.

I haven't had much time to test since then, however.

Re: msm 760 with ap on different subnet

Hi Andrea,

If you are confirm that routing is working fine in between controller subnet and AP subnet then should be no problem on AP discovery part. There is possibility that you may use port 1 (Internet port) from the controller to make connection. If you did so, you need to enable discovery AP on internet port. By default, only port 2 (LAN port) is enable to adopt AP. If you suffer from this issue, I believe your AP may running LED in blink sequence 1-2-3.

Please go Service Controller > Management > Device Discovery to check the internet checkbox.

Hope this solve your problem.

Re: msm 760 with ap on different subnet

Hello,

Your best bet to quickly deploy APs on a different subnet is to use DHCP to point the APs to the controller. Every time I have used discovery it has been very inconsistent. If you copy and paste the following link http://cdn.procurve.com/training/Manuals/MSM7xx-MCG-Apr10-5998-0308-v54.pdf ,refer to Appendix E. In my current configuration, DHCP points to the Internet Port.
