10k SAS vs 7.2k SATA -- noticeable differences??

I am evaluating whether to get an MSA2012i SAN, based on consultant recommendation.
SATA is a lot cheaper and I can store a lot more data.
Will performance and perceived speed be a lot different between SATA vs. SAS??
We would use the SAN for VMware 3.5 U3, right now only 5-6 VMs, perhaps 10 by this time next year, one will be a payroll/timekeeping server that must be reliable.
Are SAS drives more "reliable" than SATA drives??
Any other useful comparisons??
Thank you, Tom

Of course you can use both if you like. But if you need Performance and Reliability then go with the SAS especially if you going to use SQL or Exchange. For Non-Critical Data and backup data use the SATA.

my 2 cents,
Martin
