8/8 Base SAN switch: signature for the firmware could not be validated

I took a fresh new 8/8 Base SAN switch out of the box and before putting it to service I'm trying to update the firmware. The switch is currently running firmware 7.0.2d. I've tried to update to 7.2.1 and 7.1.1c, but in both cases update fails with this message:

Firmwaredownload failed because the signature for the firmware could not be validated.

I tried to find out if signature verification is enabled, and seems to me that it isn't:

sw300:admin> fipscfg --verify fips

...
Firmwaredownload signature verification is disabled.

...

So, any idea why it might be failing like this? I do the update via FTP, and in FTP server logs I see that the switch actually downloads a file named 'signature.tar', but for some reason it doesn't like the file...

You may get the same result if the firmware file is corrupted. Maybe you can check the MD5?

Hope this helps!

I did check the MD5 checksum after downloading at it was OK.

Did you find out how to fix this?

This option is new to me, perhaps if you try to disable it again with 'configure'?

Maybe a reboot is needed to enforce the setting?

I'd open a case with HP.
