Can Emulex lp982 be converted to FCA2408?

Hi,
I have two lp982 hba on a Bull server (Os:W2K). I want to connect the server to MA8000 through SANswicth 16 with SecurePath 3.1a. After installing drivers and Securepath, windows 2000 dumps while restarting.

Which one is the problem, lp982 or SecurePath3.1a? Which one should I upgrade or convert? Is it possible and enough to convert lp982 to fca2408 with firmware upgrade? Or Must Securepath be upgraded to version 4.0?

Thanks..

Hi Yusuf,

I've seen problems with SecurePath 3.1a causing bluescreens under Win2K. Do you have any details of the bluescreen? You should at least apply SecurePath 3.1A SP3.
Don't know about the firmware on the HBA.

No, I don't think you can turn an 'LP982' into an 'FCA2408'.

Both might use the same board und I assume you can flash firmware from the HP web-page into the LP982, but the FCA2408 is a HP-branded product. It comes with a HP-specific manual and is covered under HP warranty.

Thanks for replies.

Stephen, I applied SP3 for SecurePath 3.1A and I am using SecurePath with KGPSA-BC HBAs on other systems without problem.

Uwe (or anyobody else), have you got any experience flashing Emulex HBA with HP firmware. As you stated this operation voids manufacturers (in this case Emulex's) warranty. I don't want to waste my HBA with a false operation.

If I can flash lp982 with fca2408 firmware (which I already downloaded), there comes another question: Does Securepath v3.1A SP3 support FCA2408?

Best Regards,
Yusuf
