Hello.
I have an MSA30 enclosure with a dual-port SCSI I/O card in it. Right now, I have to plug each port into the controller to see all the drives.
I would like to use only one port if that's possible.
Is there a way to configure this, or do I have to get a sinlge-port card?
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Can I use a signle cable with Dual port I/O (MSA30)
Hi Adam,
Unfortunately there is no way to do it, in order to have the configuration you want you'll need the MSA30SB; the difference between both is the I/O module. You can always purchse the single bus (SB) I/O module for the MSA 30 and swap them.

Solution
Adam,
I just went through this myself. I did purchase the single bus I/O module and the swap itself was fairly painless.
In my case I had all 14 drives configured as one large array across both channels. I had to back up the drives to tape, do the swap, and then reconfigure the drives to be a new array and then restore the data. I could find no way to save the data on the drives.

Why does this always happen to me?

Re: Can I use a signle cable with Dual port I/O (MSA30)
Thanks for the responses. This is a brand new installation, so I won't have to do any backups. It just looks like we ordered the wrong part.
Thanks again,
Adam
