Compaq RA4000/4100 Fibre Array Flash Update
Looking for someone that has experience updating the 4000/4100 controller with the RomPaqs.
I am beginning to believe that the rompaq may only work with certain HBA's. I am using Emulex LP7000's that have the latest updates.
So in a nutshell -- I need to someone to feed me a partnumber of a HBA that might work.
Thanks
Tom-

Re: Compaq RA4000/4100 Fibre Array Flash Update
Hi Tom
Updated one yesterday, with Compaq StorageWorks 64Bit/66MHz HBA, but it only worked when I directly attached to the controller, not through a hub. The other thing to note is it says it will take a few seconds, should read minutes. I eventually went for a cup of tea to ease the tension!
It had completed when I returned.

Re: Compaq RA4000/4100 Fibre Array Flash Update
Checked an old Quickspec which says:
64-bit/66-MHz Fibre Channel Host Adapter - 120186-B21
If I understand that right, it is loop only.

Re: Compaq RA4000/4100 Fibre Array Flash Update
I'm not too sure what I was thinking when i tried it with the Emulex HBA's -- especially since they were compaq supplied in this box.
As my daughter says --- Duhhhhhhhhhh!
Of course the rompaq's are only going to have boot drivers for Compaq HBA's.
If you get a pure Compaq HBA the rompaq works great -- slow like you pointed out. I had 6 arrays to do. Got 6 of the 32bit units NOS off of EBAY and life is good now.
Thanks for your reply.
