Connecting MSA30 Dual Bus to Two Seperate Server & Expanding Array

Hello friends.

MSA30 datasheet explains it can be connected to two seperate servers as a DAS, seperate storage. (7 disks per port)

Actually, I would like to extend my current storage on two dl380g4 drives with on board smartarray 6i controllers by adding the msa30. Both servers have 6x300 15k U320 disks on themselves.

The question is, is it possible to add 7 drives to current 6 one to create a 13 drive array per server, on the same array, by only connecting the MSA30 to external vhdci port?

As far as I remember, I have tested placing 3 drives on backplane and 2 drives on MSA30 single bus, and added them to a single array once in time, but actually not sure now.

Thanks for your support, have a nice day.

Re: Connecting MSA30 Dual Bus to Two Seperate Server & Expanding Array

You need a controller with 2 channels (busses) for this, but I think you have only one. Hence you cannot do this because of SCSI conflicts.

Hope this helps!
