Deleting Logical Drives On An MSA 1000

We have an MSA 1000 SAN and we have created 4 logical drives. These are all assigned to the same server.

I now want to delete logical drives 1, 2, and 3 but not 4. I understand that you can only delete the "last" logical drive on an MSA 1000 so I will first need to delete logical drive 4, then 3, then 2, and finally 1. I will then need to recreate logical drive 4 (as the new logical drive 1).

Is there a particular method of deleting the logical drive e.g. is it best for me to power down the server which uses logical drives 1, 2, 3, and 4 first, then delete the logical drives using the ACU on another machine (this way the drives can't be in use when I'm deleting them). Is there another way ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Re: Deleting Logical Drives On An MSA 1000

just unmount the drives before deleting. If windows, remove the drive letter/path.
I would then rescan (I don't think it's required) before recreating the LUN. then rescan to pick up the new LUN
