We have a single controller MSA with two switches (cascaded - 12 ports available to hosts) and 2 * DL580s with 4*FC HBA 2101 each. Pl. check the attached diagram for the connection details. I created a simple zone comprising only 2 FC HBAs from both servers mapping to port 1 and 2 of both the switches. After enabling the configuration I can't see the LUNs and also can't see MSA from ACU. What could be the problem? Pl. help.
Thanks,
Karthik S S

Re: Devices are not seen after zoning (MSA1000-DL580-SAN2/8)
you are using WWNNs (world wide node names). I don't know if that works, I have always used WWPNs (port), which (for your adapters) start with '10:00'.
From your description it sounds like you are misunderstanding how zoning works. You do not 'map' WWNs to switch ports - a device 'logs-in' to the switch and then he knows what is connected.
You rather specify which ports/WWNs are allowed to talk to each other and you must include the MSA1000 controller port in the zone - do a 'switchShow' to find out the WWPN.
If that still does not work, I would try either port-based or entirely WWN-based zoning.

Re: Devices are not seen after zoning (MSA1000-DL580-SAN2/8)
Thanks for that. But even after using Port WWNs it doesn't work :-(
As you guessed it right I am not very familar with zoning.
Thanks,
Karthik S S

Re: Devices are not seen after zoning (MSA1000-DL580-SAN2/8)
After adding the MSA controller's port wwn now the luns are visible only on the first dl580 ..!!
How do I make it visible on the seconf dl580?

Re: Devices are not seen after zoning (MSA1000-DL580-SAN2/8)
I assume you have both switches linked with an external cable and you see an 'E_port' when you do a 'switchShow' command:
port 15: sw Online E-Port 10:00:00:60:69:51:3a:91 "fcswa2" (downstream)
(don't bother if it says 'upstream' instead)
Can you see the MSA on the second server when you run the ACU there? Do you have SSP (selective storage presentation - also known as LUN masking) enabled on the MSA?

Re: Devices are not seen after zoning (MSA1000-DL580-SAN2/8)
Also I just wanted to be sure that when I say
"1,1;1,2;2,1;2,2"
does it point to ports 1 and 2 of both the switches??
