EMA 12000
I am new to this storage product. How do you assign an IP address for the controller? I tried to update the firmware through the serial cable and I got an error stating that serial cable does not support firmware update.
Here are the controller info:
Controller: HSG80
Firmware: V87F-1
Basically, I am doing a fresh install. I am using the SWCC HSG80 command console to connect to the HSG80 controller then I choose tcp/ip. I got an error "No Agent Running on Specified host".
Please help,
Thai

Re: EMA 12000
You can not connect directly to the HSG80 via IP Address as there is no place to set an IP address, nor is there a Network Interface on the HSG80.
SWCC requires agent software running on a host that is attached to the SAN (and ultimately to the HSG80) via fibre Channel. The agent acts as a middle man between the HSG80 and the host you are running SWCC from.
The easiest way to update the ACS is by using Hyperterm with a Serial Connection. Download the appropiate files, and there will be a text file with instructions on how to set the delay in Hyperterm. You can then use the "send file" feature of hyperterm to update the ACS running on the HSG80's. You have to do each separately and individually.
If you need help finding the updates or setting up hyperterm, let us know.

Re: EMA 12000
The cable has a RJ11 on one end and a DB9 on the other.
