EVA8400: Momentarily loose all disk paths when adding a new LUN on Linux

I am hoping someone can help with a EVA8400 problem.

Every time we add a new LUN and assign it to a host, we momentarily loose all paths to all LUNs. The paths are only down for a second or two, but its long enough to cause problems on a busy cluster.

We are running RHEL5.3 64-bit, using the built in multipathing, which seems to work well otherwise. The problem appears to be that when a new LUN is assigned to a host, all LUNs disappear for a moment and then reappear.

Hello,

this could be caused by a scsi bus reset. Fibre-Channel is using SCSI as an upper-layer protocol. To use the newly added LUN the kernel does a scsi bus reset. I don't think that you can deactive it. Best way: Add the LUN to the slave node, failover the cluster and add it to the other node.
