Enabling Multipath for HP P2000 G3

Hi,

I am trying to enable multipath on a server (it is going to be part of a cluster) but I am unable to do so. I have created the Virtual Disk, the hosts and the mappings successfully on the P2000. Using the iscsi initiator, I am able to connect to the target IP address successfully, I am able to conenct to the target (enabling multipath (Advanced (Local Adaper, Initiator IP, Target Portal IP) successfully. This conencts to Port A1 IP address 10.0.0.63

Mutipath has been installed on the server.

However, when I attempt to conenct to add another target IP address 10.0.0.67 (Port B1). I receive no targets available for login using quick connect (the same occurs for the Discovery). I could understand this since I only have one host created for this server in the hosts (the full IQN). I attempted to create another host with the same IQN but a different name and it only allows for one host with the same iqn.

How do you enable multipath for the P2000? BTW, all ports are pingable.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Enabling Multipath for HP P2000 G3

From user guide:

IP Address. For each controller, assign one port to one subnet and the other port to a second
subnet. Ensure that each iSCSI host port in the storage system is assigned a different IP address. For
example:
• Controller A port 0: 10.10.10.100
• Controller A port 1: 10.11.10.120
• Controller B port 0: 10.10.10.110
• Controller B port 1: 10.11.10.130
• Netmask. IP subnet mask. The default is 255.255.255.0.
• Gateway. Gateway IP address. The default is 0.0.0.0.

You can get multipath between multiple ports of a *single* controller.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Enabling Multipath for HP P2000 G3

Thank you for your reply. I did attempt this before. My current setup is as follows:

HP P2000

   Port A1 10.0.0.63

   Port B1 10.1.0.63

Switch A - Connected to Port B1

Switch B - Connected to Port A1

Server A

   10.0.0.140 - Connected to Switch B

   10.1.0.140 - Connected to Switch A

All IP Addresses are pingable, however, I am still unable to add a second IP address to discover. I still receive the "No Targets available for Login using Quick Connect."

Re: Enabling Multipath for HP P2000 G3

I never really worked with the iscsi model (but with FC and SAS).

Active multipathing works with a single controller only (the vdisk owner), the other controller is standby.

Hope this helps!
