Expanding a lun with EVA5000

Can you expand a lun with EVA command view console for an EVA5000, and then see the expansion in the host server running windows 2003 after a rescan of the drives, or must you backup the data and delete the exisitng lun and recreate a larger array?

Re: Expanding a lun with EVA5000

It is always a good idea to make a good backup before any change is made to a computer environment, but it is usually not necessary to restore any data.

After you have re-scanned for the expanded virtual disk, however, you will find out that there is unpartitioned disk space at the end. That is because the EVA only deals with blocks of data.

Assuming that this is a basic disk, you can easily expand the partition and NTFS volume with the "diskpart" utility, which is included in Windows 2003.
